Kick Butt Columbus Clean-up Results

Congratulations everyone for coming out and making KickButtColumbus 2011 a great and safe event! We were fortunate to have excellent weather and a great turnout. There were 318 people in attendance and everyone looked amazing in those bright yellow/green T-shirts!

Our thanks to Mayor Michael B. Coleman for energizing the crowd, Title Boxing for leading everyone in kickboxing style warm-ups to prepare for the assault on litter and our wonderful event sponsors, BIA. CORA, COTA, Columbus Chamber, CYP CLUB, G & J Pepsi, InnovaGreen, ODOT, and ONLA who made the event possible.

A total of 25 ramps throughout the City were cleaned up with 3.89 tons of trash and litter collected. We collected 6900 pounds of recycling. And enthusiastically went after the cigarette butts everywhere to collect 32,808 total butts.

We are pleased to announce the 2011 winner of the Golden Ashtray Award was Team 5 (Ganthers Place Blockwatch), who cleaned up I-71 Exit 105 Greenlawn Ave. They collected a total of 5,162 butts to keep Greenlawn Ave looking spotless.

The winner of the 2011 Kickbutt Trash Award was Team 12 (Environmental Management Inc.), who cleaned up I-70 Exit 94 Wilson Rd. They collected a total of 90 bags of trash from that ramp area.

And the 2011 Recycling Award was a tie between two hard working teams; Team 10 - a CYP CLUB team who cleaned up I-70 Exit 97 W Broad St and collected 28 bags of recycling and Team 14 (Trash Masters) who cleaned up I-670 Exit 6 Leonard Ave and also collected 28 bags of recycling.

Great work everyone! We hope you had a great time at the event, enjoyed the refreshments, cookout, music and getting to know like minded people who were passionate about litter, cigarette butts and keeping it clean.

Thanks again for making the 2011 Kick Butt Columbus! a huge success. Get ready for a stellar 2012 effort.
