A Toast to Transit

Written by Elissa Schneider, Board Trustee of Transit Columbus

As Columbus celebrates its bicentennial, our region is on the verge of becoming one of the nation's premiere metropolitan centers: home to top businesses, nationally-ranked education and research institutions, great neighborhoods, and international attractions, arts, sports and culture. The missing piece is a truly diverse public transportation system that serves all of Central Ohio's citizens, visitors and businesses. Now is the time to better connect Central Ohio!

And that's where Transit Columbus comes in. Transit Columbus is a new organization that has formed to champion an integrated public transportation system for the people of Central Ohio. It's not just about transit, it's about improving the safety, health, environment and economic vitality of the entire Columbus region.

It's no surprise to anyone that transit issues are important to young professionals. One of the first opportunities to get involved with Transit Columbus is at our Toast to Transit event.

On Thursday, June 28 from 5-7pm, Transit Columbus will host "A Toast to Transit" - an evening mixer and our first public event. Stop by the downtown Cup O' Joe/MoJoe Lounge (149 S. High Street) to meet our board and others who want to see public transit grow for the benefit of all central Ohioans.

I also encourage you to go to our website, www.transitcolumbus.org, and show your support by signing up for updates. Please RSVP to Facebook or info@transitcolumbus.org.

We hope you can join us on June 28.
