Leaves will Fall, while Connections Blossom
Written by Ryan Conway, CYP CLUB Networking Director
Fall is upon us, whether we like it or not. The dawning of a new Buckeye football season, school is back in session, and a new year is just in sight. Before we move forward, let's take a moment to reflect on a successful summer of networking activities.
The Coffee Talk Networking series spread its wings and traveled to venues like TechColumbus, Creekside Conference & Event Center, and also made a couple stops at Experience Columbus. We've learned about what's going on with our beloved Columbus Clippers and partnerships like Columbus 2020, we've also sampled specialty coffees from Crazy Goat Coffee and learned about some awesome local restaurants, and even got a little crazy with a Twister edition of Speed Networking. Our Five Pillars event has continued to flourish with some fantastic panel discussions about personal development, both within ourselves and with our community, thanks largely in part to Members First Credit Union. It's been a fantastic summer of networking opportunities and we're looking to keep it rolling right into the fall!
Who Has the Best Job in Columbus - Facebook Contest Winners
Last week, the folks at Columbus Alive! published an article featuring locals with the Best Jobs in Columbus. We followed that up with a week-long contest on Facebook to find some other cool jobs in our city!
Congratulations to Chet Ridenour (Jack of All Trades; Master of Fun - fitness bootcamp instructor, DJ, Mead taster, neighborhood association administrator, and soon-to-be ballroom dance coach) and Dana Lintner (Zookeeper at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium) who received the most likes in the Facebook contest! They'll each get a $20 Cameron Mitchell Restaurants gift card. Crazy Goat Coffee cards will go to Ingrid Cawthorne, Chris Ortleib, and Dave Bell... and upgraded memberships to Tara Grove and Brandy Porter. Congrats to all and thanks for playing!

Charity Spotlight: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio
Through a unique brand of mentoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio is changing lives for the better. It all starts with a careful match of a compassionate volunteer to a child. But that's only the beginning.
As the relationships develop, the BBBS staff stays involved in every pairing, providing support and coaching through the entire match relationship. Because these staff members are actively involved in their matches -- and check in frequently with their families -- they are often able to identify additional needed support.
By collaborating with community partners to provide help to families in their times of need, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio supports the caring work of their volunteers and provides a better foundation for their matches to grow and flourish.
Charity Spotlight: Furniture Bank of Central Ohio
We all know how easy it is to take things for granted in our daily lives. These can include our jobs, loved one, and even the comfortable chairs and couches we sit down on after coming home from work.
Not everyone has the luxury of furniture in their homes. That's where the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio comes in. We spoke with FBCO's Sean Becker for a little insight on how young professionals can bring some comfort to their community.
Q: Tell us about the Furniture Bank.
A: The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is dedicated to providing free furniture to area families in need. Our mission is to turn empty houses into homes. We accept donations of new and gently used furniture items and other household goods and distribute them to families around Columbus who can't afford to furnish their homes. We distributed over 54,000 items to 4,246 families in 2011.
