Singer and Voice Actor Kristin Green Takes the Stage at Madlab Theatre

Written by Colleen Dunne

Kristin Green, member of the band So Long, Stargazer and podcast troupe IABD, is making her MadLab debut in Theatre Roulette 2017, portraying an irate Jane Austen in one short play.

Colleen: How long have you been performing?
Kristin:
Does sitting alone in my room with my stuffed animals as an audience count? If so, then from whatever age I developed the cognitive skills to come up with stories and imagine being someone else.

Colleen: How did you get involved in music?
Kristin:
I took lessons from age five to 18 and continued playing just for fun until So Long, Stargazer formed in 2014. The scariest part about that was singing — until that point, other than a couple of musicals in high school and college, I never sang in public.

Colleen: What's your favorite thing to do when you're offstage?
Kristin:
My absolute favorite thing is talking and laughing with a small group of close friends while playing a game or watching TV/movies. If it's at a location where pants are optional, even better.

Colleen: Do you have any pets?
Kristin:
I have a dog named Fynn, which is short for Professor Finnegan von Keyser Wait For It... Soze. He'll be famous before I am.

Colleen: Biggest pet peeve?
Kristin:
That person in every group who is "fine with anything" but then is the first to complain about everything. (To That Person: You're high maintenance. Embrace it. Be proud!)

Colleen: What is the best Halloween costume you've ever worn?
Kristin:
Leela from Futurama. Purple hair AND a ray gun? Yes, please. Every day.

Colleen: What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done (that you're willing to admit)?
Kristin:
The time I snuck into my classmate's backyard and hopped around in a blue crayon costume comes to mind. I think there was a song that went with it too. This was on a dare. I'm not sure if he ever knew that it was me (hi, Adam).

To see Kristin in all her Austenian glory, look for the “Wheel Checks” night of programming during the 18th Annual Theatre Roulette, a rotating short play festival running May 11-27 at MadLab (227 N. Third St.). For tickets or more info about MadLab or Theatre Roulette, visit madlab.net or find Madlab on Facebook.
