Check out these fun volunteer & fundraising events going on in Columbus this week! (May 29-June 4)

1. Volunteer at the Memorial Golf Tournament
When: Monday, May 29 – Sunday, June 4
Where: Muirfield Village Golf Club (5750 Memorial Dr. Dublin, OH 43017) & other locations
Why: The city’s largest and most popular golf event of the year, the Memorial Tournament, is returning this week to the Dublin area and volunteers are needed to help make it happen. A plethora of volunteer openings are available in many different areas of the event like Concessions, Hospitality, Courtesy Cars/Transportation, Tickets & VIP services, and more.

2. Unload Produce from the Foodbank
When: Tuesday, May 30- from 6:00pm-7:15pm
Where: Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center (14 W Lakeview Ave. Columbus, OH 43202)
Why: Besa is a local organization that teams up with nonprofits to recruit volunteers & coordinate community-wide service projects. Join the group for dinner and giving back this Tuesday at the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center as they help unload supplies from the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. These items will be available to families in need through the CRC’s Choice Food Pantry, community meals, and other services.

3. Package condoms for upcoming Pride festivals
When: Wednesday, May 31 from 6:00pm-9:00pm
Where: 3rd Floor of 400 N High St. Columbus, OH 43214
Why:June is LGBTQ Pride Month, and cities everywhere are getting ready to celebrate diversity and love with Pride parades & festivals. Help spread the message of safe sex at these events by joining the Ohio HIV/STI Hotline this Wednesday for a Condom Packing Party. Volunteers will assemble condom packs that will later be distributed at Pride fests throughout Ohio and sent out by the Free Condom Project, an effort that distributes free protection to encourage safer sex and decreased HIV/STI rates & unplanned pregnancy in Ohio.

4. Distribute free produce for people in need
When: Thursday, June 1 from 2:30pm-6:30pm
Where: Vaughn E. Hairston YMCA (3500 First Ave. Grove City, OH43123)
Why: Help the Mid-Ohio Foodbank put 10,000 pounds of fresh produce into the hands of those who need it with the Vaughn E. Hairston YMCA this Thursday at their monthly Produce Giveaway. Volunteers are needed to help set up/tear down the event and help deliver the food to local nonprofits, who will re-distribute it into the community.

5. Grab drinks for animal welfare
When: Friday, June 2 from 5:00pm-7:00pm
Where: The Three-Legged Mare (401 N Front St. Columbus, Ohio 43215)
Why: Arena District pub, The Three-Legged Mare will host their 1st Annual Pups on the Patio bash for the Capital Area Humane Society this Friday evening. This Happy Hour event will include drink specials, prizes, and more, with a portion of profits going to CAHS’ efforts in animal welfare & adoption.

6. Volunteer at the Heritage Celebration
When: Saturday, June 3 – Sunday, June 4
Where: Century Village (4185 Orders Rd. Grove City, Ohio 43123)
Why: The Southwest Franklin County Historical Society will be hosting their annual Heritage Festival this weekend, taking guests back to the 1800s with attractions like log cabin tours, live Blacksmithing demos, live Bluegrass music, and much more. Volunteers can be a part of the fun by assisting as greeters and costumed participants in attractions throughout the grounds.

7. Race or volunteer at a 10k for Make-a-Wish Foundation
When: Sunday, June 4
Where: Scioto Mile Riverfront Park (233 Civic Center Dr. Columbus, OH 43215)
Why: Known as “The Oldest Road Race in Columbus,” the 40th Annual Columbus 10K will return this Sunday in efforts to benefit Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Registration is still open for those who’d like to join the race and several slots are open for volunteers looking to lend a hand on or off-course the day of the event.
