CYP Club Cares is hosting a unique group volunteer activity to work on the Clarfield Urban Farm for a few hours planting crops, weeding/mulching, getting our hands a little dirty, and more. The Clarfield Urban Farm is part of Urban Farms of Central Ohio, a non-profit that takes vacant and/or underutilized land and transforms it into thriving, community farms.

As part of this volunteer effort, we will assist with:
• Preparing and amending the beds
• Planting crops
• Site clean-up including trash pick-up
• Crop maintenance (weeding, mulching, etc.)
• Harvest help
• Other miscellaneous farm tasks

Please make sure you are definitely able to attend before registering as we have limited volunteer spots available for this event. This volunteer activity will be led by CYP Club Cares board member Tiffany Priest.

Volunteer notes:
• Volunteers should report directly to the Clarfield Urban Farm (3220 Groveport Road, Columbus, OH, 43207). From Groveport Road, turn onto Clarfield Road; the farm is at a former school building.
• Parking is free and on-site.
• Volunteers need to bring their own water.
• Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty.
• Volunteers will be outside the entire time so please dress in layers and bring a hat and sunscreen.
• Should the weather not be ideal, we will cancel. If we are going to cancel, we will make that call at least an hour before the scheduled time and will contact you via phone and e-mail as soon as we can. Sometimes the weather in South Columbus is not the same as North Columbus, so please plan to come until you hear from us that we’ve cancelled. Please, if the weather is looking bad, check your e-mail or voicemail to see if you've received a notice.

More about the charity: Clarfield Urban Farm has a production space of 3.5 acres. We seek to provide underserved communities with increased access to local produce, jobs and job training, and education about fresh produce and improved diet. We welcome experienced gardeners who want to contribute their growing skills to help others, as well as first time gardeners who want to learn how to grow food while giving back.

Contact us if you have any questions about this event.
