Coffee Talk Networking, powered by Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea, is a female-focused morning event series for young professionals that offers a casual setting for business networking, career advice, and tips on leadership with an inspirational guest interview.

It's hosted on the second Tuesday of the month with an inspirational interview conducted by Jesse Jones at Crimson Cup's Innovation Lab near Bexley. The cost is $5 per person (or FREE for Premium members), coffee and light breakfast are included, parking is free, and all are welcome.

In October we will welcome Dr. Elizabeth "Beth" L. Paul, the 16th president of Capital University.

As a national leader in higher education, Paul’s many accomplishments include redesigning financial and data infrastructure, growing diversity and inclusiveness, strengthening academic programs and university marketing strategy, and championing organizational culture change to connect and unite everyone to one university mission.

Paul previously was a member of the senior leadership team at The College of New Jersey, in Ewing, N.J., where she was a member of the faculty since 1992.

Well-known as a consultant focusing on student-learning outcomes assessment, strategic planning and change management, Paul has held national leadership roles in key higher education initiatives, including community-engaged learning and undergraduate research. She was president of the Council on Undergraduate Research in 2010-2011, and currently serves on the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, and as a task force chair of the Council of Independent Colleges.

Her research, publications and presentations include topics such as high-impact, engaged and experiential learning opportunities; undergraduate research; university-community partnerships; the role of faculty in undergraduate research; institutional financial models; faculty workload models; interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning opportunities for students and faculty; and relationship development and dynamics.

Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in statistics, and a doctorate in personality psychology, both from Boston University. She did a predoctoral training fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health, and earned a certificate in higher education administration from Harvard Institute for Educational Management.

When she arrived on campus, President Paul immediately recognized the importance of Capital’s place in Columbus. “Bexley and Columbus are integral to Capital’s learning community, expanding students’ experience, skills, impact and horizons,” says Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul and her husband, Dr. Bill Ball, and their daughters, Martha and Sophie, are thrilled to call Bexley home.
