For this month's event we are pleased to welcome Mandy Bishop, Jordan Davis, and Jennifer Fening, representing Smart Columbus!

Columbus competed against 77 cities nationwide to win the Smart City Challenge in 2016. With $40 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation and $10 million from Vulcan, Inc., a Paul G. Allen Company, we won a very important job. Smart Columbus has a vision that starts with the reinvention of mobility, which will lead us to a future beyond what anyone has yet imagined.

Mandy Bishop serves as Deputy Director of Public Service/Smart Columbus Program Manager. Mandy joined the City of Columbus in July 2017, bringing 19 years of industry experience with an emphasis on large, complex project management. Mandy is responsible for the delivery of the Smart Columbus Operating System, systems engineering documentation, interagency coordination, contracting and partner selection as well as all other aspects of the USDOT and Paul G. Allen grant funded Smart Columbus program. Prior to the City of Columbus, Mandy was a Senior Project Manager with GPD Group managing over $100 million in public improvements in the Bridge Street District for the City of Dublin and served as the Project Manager for the Smart Columbus – Decarbonization & Electrification project for the City. Additionally, Mandy served as the staff lead for Governor Strickland’s 21st Century Priorities Task Force and later as Deputy Director of Planning for ODOT managing Environmental Services, Technical Services, Transit, Systems Planning and other functions at the department.

Mandy holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and is a Registered Ohio Professional Engineer and Surveyor Intern. Mandy is also a WTS, Columbus Engineers Club and ASHE member.

Jordan Davis is the Director of Smart Columbus for the Columbus Partnership, leading strategy and public-private partnerships for the Central Ohio region’s $550 million smart cities initiative. She was instrumental in Columbus becoming the sole winner of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart Cities Challenge in 2016 and since has managed the upstart of a new joint venture for the region focused on realizing a connected, autonomous, shared, and electric transportation ecosystem that improves people’s lives. Jordan facilitates collaboration between the public and private sector, secures new private investment in the Acceleration Fund, oversees public affairs, and supports the long-term strategy to sustain the Smart Columbus Initiative. Additionally, she oversees an aggressive electric vehicle adoption program, shared mobility growth plan, autonomous vehicle deployment, and a dynamic corporate engagement portfolio.

Jennifer Fening is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Smart Columbus initiative. In her role, Jennifer is responsible for driving resident engagement and adoption of projects designed to enhance mobility, sustainability and safety in America’s 14th-largest city. She also oversees initiatives to grow Columbus’ perception as “America’s Smart City.”

Prior to joining Smart Columbus, Jennifer directed marketing for Worthington Industries’ Consumer Products business unit, where she led the re-branding and marketing of the Bernzomatic brand, which was recognized with multiple national marketing awards. Previously, Jennifer directed government, B2B and non-profit client engagements as an Associate Vice President at Fahlgren Mortine. Jennifer began her career at Weber Shandwick Worldwide public relations in Chicago. Jennifer is a graduate of Northwestern University, a wife and mother of two young girls.
