Columbus Young Professionals Club is proud to introduce a brand-new mentorship program! Elevate & Excel is designed to help young leaders and emerging professionals learn, grow and advocate for themselves professionally. The program will consist of small groups of mentees working with an assigned mentor for 15 weeks. Mentors will commit up to five hours per month from April through July 2024.

Expectations of Mentors
MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY
Get to know your mentee and ask questions about their life.
Follow through on commitments you’ve made to your mentee.
BUILD TRUST
Get to know your mentee and ask questions about their life.

LISTEN ATTENTIVELY
Practice active listening when engaging with your mentee.
Listen carefully to identify unspoken needs and growth opportunities.
REFLECT ON MENTEE STRENGTHS AND AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT
Observe your mentee’s talents and strengths and help them further hone their skills.
Provide thoughtful feedback and develop ways for your mentee to practice underdeveloped skills so they can level-up.
BE AWARE OF PRIVILEGE AND POWER DYNAMICS
Recognize potential power imbalances your mentee may perceive and work to maintain an equal relationship.
Be aware of privileges and other factors that may influence your and your mentee’s experiences, especially considering differences in race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and income level.
Elevate & Excel runs from April 10 through July 26, 2024. Our deadline for mentors to sign up is March 28.

About Elevate & Excel Mentoring
Overview
The Elevate & Excel Mentoring Program is a 15-week mentoring leadership initiative facilitated by the CYP Club. The program is designed to help the mentee grow as a person and become the best version of themselves. This may involve helping you achieve your personal or career goals, introducing you to new ways of thinking, challenging your limiting assumptions, sharing valuable life lessons, and much more. It will consist of 15 weeks of group mentoring (includes 5 in-person sessions).
Mandatory Cohort Sessions
Wednesday, April 10, 6-8pm, Kickoff Reception with Mentees, Mentors, and Community Leaders
Wednesday, May 8, 6-8pm: Team-bonding with Greenlight Improv
Wednesday, May 29, 6-8pm: Resume-building and LinkedIn profiles
Wednesday, June 26, 6-8pm: Personal brand and personal board of directors
Friday, July 26, 12-2pm: Graduation Luncheon

Selection Criteria:
Commitment to a four-month leadership program with mandatory weekly or bi-weekly sessions, as agreed upon by your mentoring group
Commitment to in-person, after-work sessions (April 10, May 8, May 29, June 26 from 6-8pm) and a graduation luncheon (Fri, July 26 from 12-2pm)
Commitment to showing up on time and being present during all sessions
Commitment to your personal and professional growth
